Our Story

Joe Hall began creating WordPress websites in 2007 for small businesses and nonprofits. Since then Joe has gone on to create many themes and custom plug-ins for his clients. Joe has also enjoyed a successful career as a SEO consultant, which has given him the unique experience of not only building WordPress sites, but optimizing them for performance as well.

Cloud22 was founded with the desire to deliver an end-to-end solution for WordPress development, management, and optimization. Our focus is on speed, security, and user experience. We’d love to channel that focus on to your organization’s needs.

Default To Open

We support the open web and, the open-source software movement. Open source development and values are at the core of the WordPress community. We believe that at it’s core information and ideas should be free; free to distribute and expand. Because of that every stack of our servers and business operations is dominated by open source technology. We are strong proponents of Ubuntu, NGINX, and the entire LAMP stack.

We support all types of “open licences” and collaboration. Our WordPress themes and plugins are licence through the GPLv2 (or later), and the content on this site is licence through the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

Sustainable Business

In 2015 research indicated that data centers and their energy consumption are responsible for around 2 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions world wide. A year later a report stated that data center’s power consumption would grow 3 times during the next decade.

Which is why when we decided to start Cloud22 we made a commitment to only work with data centers that could commit to lowering their carbon footprint and work towards sustainable operations. We are proud to say that all of the data centers we work with are 100% powered by renewable energy as certified by Green-e. As we continue to grow we hope to always work with other data centers that share that same commitment to a sustainable future for all.

We are a technology company. As such we understand that innovation comes from an array of diverse ideas and people all contributing in their own way. To reach this level of problem solving, we need to work with others to build a society that values all people and their unique contributions.
